Under this ruling, only NCERT and government-recognized textbooks will now be mandatorily prescribed for study in all schools ranging from Class 9 to Class 12. Only Government Textbooks in Schools Now
According to the new directives, all government, aided, and private schools across the state must now conduct their teaching exclusively using NCERT and Board-approved textbooks. For a long time, there had been persistent complaints that many schools pressured students to purchase expensive textbooks from private publishers. This placed an additional financial burden on parents and unnecessarily inflated the cost of education. With the implementation of this new system, all students will now have access to uniform study material, thereby ensuring consistency in academic instruction.
A Halt to Commission-Seeking Practices
The primary rationale behind this decision is to eradicate the prevalent practice of commission-seeking within schools. In numerous instances, it was observed that certain schools colluded with private publishers to sell textbooks in exchange for a commission. Now that only government-issued and authorized textbooks will be deemed valid, such illicit activities will automatically come to a halt. This will render the education system more transparent and safeguard the interests of the students.

The greatest beneficiaries of this decision will be the students and their parents. Previously, where families had to spend thousands of rupees on textbooks for a single class, NCERT textbooks will now be readily available at affordable prices. Furthermore, the compulsion to purchase unnecessary study guides and supplementary books will also be eliminated. Strict Vigilance and Action
The Board has also made it explicitly clear that strict action will be taken against any school found violating this regulation. To ensure compliance, periodic inspection drives will be conducted; if found guilty, schools may face penalties or other administrative actions. Additionally, surveillance will be intensified to curb the sale of counterfeit and unauthorized textbooks in the market, thereby ensuring that students have access only to authentic and certified study material.
