Assam: A foreign drone was seen in Kuripatti village of Sribhumi district of Assam on Tuesday night, which created a stir in the entire area. This village is located only 100 meters from the international border. The drone stopped on the roof of a house in the village, which was later taken into custody by the Assam Police. Police officials say that this matter is very serious and a forensic investigation is being done so that its flight path, direction of entering the country and its purpose can be clear. In the initial investigation, it has been suspected that this drone had entered the Indian border from Bangladesh.
Police and intelligence agencies engaged in investigation
As soon as this incident came to light, the police and other intelligence agencies have become fully active. A senior police officer said that technical investigation of the drone is being done and efforts are also being made to find out whether it is related to any espionage or illegal activity. No explosive or suspicious object has been found inside the drone, but its design and technology are considered to be very advanced. In such a situation, it is also being suspected that this drone could be part of the preparation for a major operation. The agencies are not in a mood to leave it as a mere technical glitch.
BSF increased vigilance on the border
Immediately after the incident, the Border Security Force i.e. BSF has tightened its surveillance and electronic surveillance on the 92 km long international border area in Sribhumi district. A BSF official said that this is not a normal activity and it cannot be taken lightly. Our team is also investigating whether this drone was a dry run of a major operation or was sent only for surveillance. The recordings of CCTV cameras and surveillance equipment installed on the border are being scrutinized so that it can be clear from which direction the drone came and when.
An atmosphere of fear among the villagers and demand for security
As soon as the news of finding the drone spread in the village, a feeling of fear and insecurity spread among the people. Local people say that now they are not able to sleep peacefully at night because this is the first time that such a technical thing has come to their village which may have come from abroad. The villagers have demanded from the administration that security should be increased in the villages near the border and regular monitoring should be done so that such incidents can be avoided in future. The district administration has assured the people that till the investigation of the drone is completed, complete surveillance will be kept and no suspicious activity will be ignored.
