With an aim to chart the course of development of Northeast India, Assam Rifles organised an important seminar titled “Northeast India: 2030 and Beyond” in Agartala on Thursday. Important issues like regional development and security were discussed in the event. Honourable Governor of Tripura Shri N. Indrasen Reddy was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Experts and veterans put forward their views
The seminar was attended by eminent academicians, former diplomats and defence experts. Organised in collaboration with Asian Confluence Think Tank and Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), the event reflected Assam Rifles’ commitment to the socio-economic progress of the Northeast region. Major General Suresh Bhambhu (YSM, SM), Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), initiated the discussion on the immense potential of Northeast India.

Discussion on strategic challenges and security
During the seminar, speakers such as Lt Gen K Himalay Singh (Retd), former High Commissioner Amb Riva Ganguly Das and Dr Prabir Dey shared their views on infrastructure, connectivity and policy related issues. In his concluding remarks, Lt Gen Abhijit S Pendharkar (AVSM, YSM), General Officer Commanding 3 Corps, lauded the seminar while highlighting the changing perspectives on regional security.
A shared vision created by the participation of all sections
The event was attended by people from various sections of the security forces, ex-servicemen, policy makers, academia and society. It became a platform that strengthened a common vision for a brighter future for Northeast India. The event made it clear that all the concerned parties together can play an important role in the development of the region.
