External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday shared his views on the changing technological and geopolitical conditions in the world while participating in the ‘Carnegie Global Tech Summit 2025’. He said that in the last one year, there has been a big change in America’s global outlook, the impact of which can be clearly seen especially in the field of technology.
Deep connection between MAGA agenda and technology in America
Jaishankar said that now a direct connection is visible between Donald Trump’s ‘MAGA’ (Make America Great Again) agenda and technology in America. He said that technology is America’s biggest strength and it is also contributing a lot to global progress. According to him, “Technology is playing an important role in making America great, which was not so clear earlier, now it is completely clear.”

Commenting on China’s progress and the changed situation in Europe
Jaishankar said that along with America, China has also been making steady progress in the last one year, this change has not come suddenly but gradually. Talking about the situation in Europe, he said that five years ago Europe had a balanced relationship with America, Russia and China, but now this triangular balance is under pressure and tension is being felt from every direction. He said that this change may not look dramatic, but it is gradually deepening and will affect global relations.
Emphasis on the ‘T’ words: Technology and Tariff
Jaishankar jokingly said that people have come to this conference to discuss a special ‘T’ word i.e. technology, but now another ‘T’ word has become important – ‘tariff’. He said, “Today we have come to discuss another important ‘T’ word in a changed global scenario. There is a deep connection between technology and tariff, which is important to understand.” Describing the theme of the event ‘Sambhaavna’ as special, Jaishankar said that it reflects India’s thinking of looking at the changing world from the point of view of opportunity.
