Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday met Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman V. Narayanan. The meeting was held in New Delhi, where important discussions were held regarding the state’s own satellite ‘ASSAMSAT’ proposed by the Assam government. During the meeting, the ISRO chief assured the Chief Minister that ISRO will fully cooperate to make this ambitious project a success. In this initiative, the Assam government is working in collaboration with IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre), which comes under the Department of Space.

‘ASSAMSAT’ will give a strong foundation to social and economic projects

Chief Minister Sarma said that the ‘ASSAMSAT’ satellite will provide data for many important social and economic projects of the state of Assam. It will be used in areas like agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure development, border management and improvement in law and order. Through this satellite, the government will be able to get accurate and continuous information, which will make the schemes more effective at the ground level.
