PM Modi said- 'This scheme is not to praise Modi, but to stand up for the youth'

PM Narendra Modi today interacted directly with the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana at his residence. During the conversation, he inquired from the people about their income and work experiences. When the PM asked a beneficiary about his income, he hesitated a bit, to which PM Modi jokingly said, “The Finance Minister is sitting next to me, I will say that the income tax people will not come to them.” Everyone present there laughed at this and the atmosphere became light.

This scheme is not to praise Modi

Prime Minister Modi said that this scheme is not to praise Modi, but to make the youth of the country stand on their feet. Beneficiary Lavkush Mehra from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh told how he started his business in 2021 with a Mudra loan of Rs 5 lakh. He said, “Earlier I used to work for someone, but now I am my own boss. My turnover was 12 lakhs in the first year, which has now increased to more than Rs 50 lakh.”

50 crore loan accounts approved in 10 years

The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana has completed 10 years. On this occasion, Secretary, Department of Financial Services, E. Managaraju informed that so far 50 crore loan accounts have been approved and a total loan of Rs 33 lakh crore has been given. This scheme is for those who want to start a small business without any guarantee. Its direct benefit has been received by those who were away from the traditional banking process.

68 percent women and more than half SC-ST-OBC category beneficiaries

Magaraju said that 68 percent of the beneficiaries under the Mudra scheme are women. Also, 50 percent of the beneficiaries are from Scheduled Castes, Tribes and Other Backward Classes. This proves that this scheme is actually reaching the section of the society which needs the most help. Now beneficiaries can also apply through online portal, which has made the process simpler. The Prime Minister said that the youth of the country is no longer becoming job seekers, but job providers – this is the real success of this scheme.
