Security forces arrested four militants, including a “teenager”, in Manipur Bishnupur and Kakching districts on Saturday. According to police, a member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) was arrested from Moirang Okshongbung in Bishnupur, while an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (MC Progressive) was arrested from Nambol Bazar in Bishnupur. Besides, another member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) was arrested from Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur.
Another arrest during search operation in Kakching
According to police, a member of the United People’s Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) was arrested during a joint search operation in Hiyanglam area of Kakching district. Security forces also recovered several types of weapons during the operation. Police said the operation was part of a campaign against militants in Kakching and Bishnupur districts, in which security forces carried out several raids and made significant arrests.
Four militants were arrested on Friday too
Earlier on Friday, security forces arrested four militants from Bishnupur, Thoubal and Imphal East districts. According to police, two members of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF-Pambei) were arrested from Nambol in Bishnupur. These militants were accused of being involved in the kidnapping of a 47-year-old man. Police said that as soon as information about this kidnapping was received, security forces launched a search operation and rescued the kidnapped person.
Recovery of weapons, security forces seize several arms and ammunition
Police said that an M20 pistol, one magazine and two cartridges were recovered from the arrested militant. Besides, another Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) member was arrested in Khongjom area of Thoubal district, from whom a pistol, one magazine and six cartridges were seized. Besides, security forces also seized four arms and ammunition during a search operation in Laisoi Hill area of Bishnupur district on Friday. These include an SLR rifle, a carbine machine gun, a 303 rifle, a double barrel gun, 48 bullets, two grenades, two bulletproof jackets and other materials.
