The Central Board of Film Certification, in an official statement, has dismissed reports of superstar Vijay’s film “Jana Nayakan” being leaked as baseless. The CBFC has issued a clarification clarifying these claims. According to a Press Information Bureau report, the CBFC stated that it uses a secure “Key Delivery Message” (KDM) system for all theatrical films submitted for certification. The report states that this system ensures that the film’s content is password-protected, and that the KDM is only held by the producer or filmmaker.
Censor Board’s reaction on Jana Nayakan leak
The CBFC stated that it is impossible to access or view the film without a valid KDM. This step was taken to maintain the security and confidentiality of submitted content. Regarding “Jana Nayakan,” the CBFC stated in its statement that the Digital Cinema Package (DCP) was officially handed over to the applicant in Mumbai on March 17th, with a duly acknowledged receipt. The applicant has been in possession of the DCP since then.

Makers had warned
In a statement, production company KVN Productions stressed that downloading, viewing, storing, forwarding, sharing, uploading, or disseminating the leaked scenes via WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, websites, torrents, or any other medium is a crime and a violation of copyright laws. The news of the film’s leak comes at a time when its release has been repeatedly postponed and it is facing difficulties in obtaining a certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Jana Nayakan’s release put on hold
Vijay’s last film was scheduled to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, but the release was later postponed. The film has not yet received certification.
