PM Narendra Modi, during an election rally in Barpeta, Assam, declared that this election would mark a century of defeats for the Congress party. He stated that the people of Assam have ensured two things this time: first, the BJP-NDA will achieve a hat-trick in Assam, and second, the people of Assam will ensure that the Congress royal family, seated in Delhi, achieves a century of defeats. He extended heartfelt greetings to every party worker and person associated with the BJP on its foundation day. He stated that the BJP is dedicated to serving Mother India with the mantra of “Nation First.” His resolve is to build a self-reliant India. He added that the Congress party never presents its report card to the public, whereas the BJP government, with clear intentions, informs the public about its work to serve the people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the people of Assam that their vote this time will further strengthen the foundation for building a developed Assam. The BJP is taking Assam to the heights its people deserve. Taking a dig at the Congress, he said, “The Congress has always lacked a long-term vision. Their focus was on short-term gains through corruption. Along with the goal of a developed Assam, we are also working towards the larger vision of a developed India. With this vision, the last decade was completely dedicated to lifting Assam out of fear and instability. The last decade was about saving Assam’s identity. The next decade will be about making Assam self-reliant and taking its identity to the global stage.”
Congress cornered on farmers’ issue
PM Modi said, “In the 10 years before 2014, when Congress was in power, the paddy farmers of the country got only Rs 4 lakh crore as MSP. But in the 10 years after 2014, our government has given Rs 16 lakh crore to the paddy farmers. It is clear that Congress can never do any good to the paddy farmers. In 2013, when Congress was in power at the Centre, the MSP of paddy was only Rs 1,300/quintal. Today the MSP of paddy is around Rs 2,370/quintal and the BJP government of Assam also increases it on its own.” Regarding women’s reservation, he said, “To develop India, it is very important that women have a role in the Assembly and Parliament. That is why our government passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. 33 percent reservation for women has been fixed in it. The sisters and daughters of the country have waited for this for 40 years. Therefore, it is important that women get this right from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. For this, amendment in the law is necessary. Therefore, the government has called a special session of the Parliament from April 16. We have discussed this with all the parties of the country. We have told everyone that come, let us take this work related to the rights of the sisters and daughters of the country forward unanimously.”
