A major political turnaround occurred today in Assam. Nagaon Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi officially left the Congress party and joined the BJP. Bordoloi joined the BJP in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia.
Pradyut will strengthen Assam BJP: CM Himanta
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reacted to Nagaon Lok Sabha MP Pradyot Bordoloi joining the BJP. CM Himanta said, “Nagaon MP Pradyot Bordoloi has joined the BJP. His history with the Congress dates back to 1975. His joining the BJP will strengthen the party. We all welcome him to the party.”
CM Himanta said, “The Assam Pradesh BJP will recommend to the central leadership that he contest the assembly elections. If a person has no self-respect and no reason to stay in the Congress, there is no point in staying there. Our goal is to bring more Congress leaders into the party.”

Pradyut Bordoloi resigned from all his posts and primary membership in the Congress yesterday. He sent a one-line resignation letter to party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Just 24 hours later, he joined the BJP. According to sources, the entire Assam BJP team was involved in his joining.
