Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday that the state is set to receive a major upgrade in railway connectivity. Assam will get two new Amrit Bharat trains, along with the country’s first Vande Bharat sleeper coach train. This is considered a significant achievement in the railway sector, which will strengthen connectivity not only for Assam but for the entire Northeast region. The Chief Minister shared this good news on the social media platform X, stating that a major transformation in Assam’s rail system will be witnessed this coming weekend.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between Guwahati and Kolkata
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “This weekend, Assam will receive a major boost in rail connectivity when India’s first Vande Bharat sleeper train runs between Guwahati and Kolkata.” This train will prove extremely important for long-distance overnight travel. It will further strengthen the connection between the Northeast region and the eastern part of India. This train, equipped with new technology and amenities, will provide passengers with a comfortable and fast travel experience. This project will also contribute to the economic development of the region.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Inaugurate the Train
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express train between Guwahati and Kolkata on January 17. This initiative will give a new dimension to long-distance rail travel in India.
