The first day of the new year has turned out to be extremely sad for popular TV actor and host Arjun Bijlani. Arjun’s wife, Neha Swami’s father, Rakesh Chandra Swami, passed away today. Rakesh’s health had suddenly deteriorated, after which he was admitted to the hospital. He was in the ICU and has now passed away on New Year’s Day.

Rakesh Chandra Swami’s family has confirmed his death. The family has also announced that his last rites will be performed today. Arjun Bijlani’s father-in-law’s funeral is being held today, January 1, 2026, at 3:30 PM at the Oshiwara Hindu Crematorium in Mumbai.

Arjun and Neha returned to India, cutting short their New Year’s vacation

A report by TellyChakkar had previously stated that Arjun Bijlani, along with his wife Neha Swami and son, had gone to Dubai for a New Year’s trip. But as soon as they received the news of his father-in-law’s deteriorating health, they cut short their vacation and returned to India. Rakesh Chandra Swami was admitted to the ICU after his health worsened. However, he lost the battle for his life. The reason for his sudden death has not yet been revealed.

Neha had posted a tribute to her father

Neha Swami had last shared a post for her father on Father’s Day. She had shared some pictures of her father in which her son was seen sitting on his grandfather’s lap. In this post, Neha wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to my dad. I have always admired the way you have loved, guided, and protected our family. I have always wished that Arjun learns from you—your strength, your patience, and the way you exemplify fatherhood as a blessing.”

Neha further wrote, “A father’s love is the foundation of a family, and your love has made me who I am today and what I look for in the people I love. Thank you for being the ideal father every father should strive to be. Love you, Papa.”
