Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Working President Nitin Nabin arrived in Assam on Friday for a two-day visit. The party has launched its ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’ (My Booth is the Strongest) campaign. He participated in the inaugural session of the Assam state BJP executive committee meeting and also held a meeting with the state BJP core committee. Upon arrival, Nabin held a roadshow with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Approximately 900 party members attended the state executive committee meeting. On the second day of his two-day visit, Saturday, Nabin will offer prayers at the Shaktipeeth Maa Kamakhya Temple.
Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Assam early next year. The ruling BJP in Assam has announced that it will field several new faces as party candidates in the upcoming assembly elections.
What he told the party workers
Nitin Nabin urged party workers to increase their active participation at the booth level and deepen their connect with the public. Nabin emphasized that the BJP’s success in Assam depends on effectively communicating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and the achievements of the NDA government to every household. He called upon party workers to take the BJP’s development agenda and welfare initiatives to the grassroots level so that voters remain connected with the party’s vision of governance and development.
Nitin Nabin’s visit is part of a strategy
Party leaders said that the meetings reviewed organizational preparations, electoral strategies, and public outreach programs in view of the 2026 assembly elections. Emphasis was placed on strengthening the party at the booth level, coordination among various wings of the party, and effective communication of government initiatives. Nitin Nabin’s visit to Assam is considered part of the BJP’s broader strategy to strengthen its organizational base before the elections.
With Assam emerging as a crucial political arena in the Northeast, the party is keen to mobilize its workers and establish a strong connection with the voters as soon as possible.
What Himanta Biswa Sarma said
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently stated that due to the increase in the number of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe seats after delimitation, not everyone will get a ticket this time. The BJP is attempting to achieve a hat-trick in Assam. The delimitation exercise conducted in 2023 has completely altered Assam’s political landscape, and the political boundaries have also changed. The 2026 assembly elections will be held in the newly demarcated constituencies. The names of the assembly constituencies have also been changed.
The number of assembly seats remains unchanged at 126. Addressing the state executive meeting, Naveen said, “We have seen how illegal immigrants have encroached upon our lands, how our rights have been snatched away. Those in power remained silent spectators, only concerned with their vote bank.” He further added that the people have placed their trust in the BJP and the NDA, and they have launched a campaign against illegal immigrants, receiving public support and cooperation.
