Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford, recently shared some simple and effective ways to prevent stomach cancer on social media. He says that if precautions are taken in time, it is possible to prevent this disease.
Include Cruciferous Vegetables in Your Diet
Vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and kale are considered extremely beneficial for the stomach. They contain a compound called sulforaphane, which helps fight cancer. These vegetables help remove toxins from the body, strengthen the liver, and protect cells from damage. Eating them steamed, lightly sautéed, or as part of a vegetable dish strengthens the digestive system. The vitamins C, K, and folate present in them also help boost immunity.
Add Garlic to Your Meals
Garlic is considered a treasure trove of health in both Ayurveda and modern science. The allicin compound present in it is rich in anti-cancer and anti-bacterial properties. Garlic protects the inner lining of the stomach and prevents the growth of harmful bacteria, especially Helicobacter pylori. You can include garlic in soups, lentils, vegetables, or salads.
