Today is Constitution Day. On this day, the foundation of Indian independence, rights and democracy was laid. Every year, this day is celebrated as Constitution Day in India. On this special day, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India. It took Bharti 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to prepare the Constitution.
In 2015, the Government of India officially declared 26 November as Constitution Day to promote constitutional values in the country. In 1946, the Constituent Assembly of India was formed under the chairmanship of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of the country. Dr. B.R. Singh took important responsibility for the drafting of the Constitution. Ambedkar.
In early 1948, Dr. Ambedkar drafted the Constitution and submitted it to the Gana Parishad. The Constitution was formally adopted on November 26, 1949, after much deliberation, consultation and debate. Then, on 26 January 1950, the Constitution came into force and India became a republic on 26 January, which we celebrate as Republic Day every year.

The Indian Constitution is considered to be the longest written constitution in the world. Its English version contains about 117,369 words. Its comprehensiveness and detailed description make it among the most unique and balanced constitutions in the world.
The Preamble of the Constitution of India declares the country to be a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic. Its purpose is to strengthen the unity and integrity of the nation by providing justice, freedom, equality and fraternity to every citizen.
This Day is an opportunity to honor the hard work, vision, and dedication of the 271 members who shaped India’s future. This day reminds us that the true strength of democracy lies in citizen participation and adherence to constitutional values. This Day not only speaks of rights but also inspires every Indian to be aware of their duties.
The 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution will be celebrated on Wednesday in the Central Hall of the Constitution House. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event in 2025. President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and MPs from both houses will also attend the function. Officials said Murmu will read the preamble of the Constitution of India during the program.
