Barbhuiyan, a resident of Silchar’s Rongpur area, was first brought to the Silchar Sadar Police Station and later transferred to the Superintendent of Police’s office. According to officials, Barbhuiyan, who previously served as the principal of Banskandi NMHS School in Cachar, made comments on social media regarding the Red Fort blast, writing that “elections are coming.”

Police Statement and Concerns Over National Security
Police stated that the comments appeared to “give a political spin” to a serious matter involving national security. In light of this, authorities detained the accused and began intensive interrogation. Police and cyber cells have been activated against such comments on social media.
Assam CM issues stern warning
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday condemned such online reactions. He said, “Many users were found celebrating, some even sharing ‘happy’ emojis. Are they showing sympathy for terrorists? We will take strict action against such comments.” It’s worth noting that on Monday, a slow-moving Hyundai i20 car exploded near the Red Fort Metro station in New Delhi, killing nine people and injuring 20 others.
