Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that the state government is preparing to introduce several “historic and reformative” bills in the upcoming assembly session. In addition, an important bill granting land rights to tea garden workers will also be introduced.”

Emphasis on Protecting the State’s Social and Cultural Identity

The Chief Minister said that these proposed bills are being introduced to protect the state’s socio-cultural fabric, to ensure justice and empowerment for the vulnerable sections of society while preserving Assam’s traditions and identity. He said the government’s objective is to “strengthen Assam’s social fabric and empower communities that have been neglected for years.” This initiative is part of Chief Minister Sarma’s long-term policy to prioritize cultural preservation, religious harmony, and women’s safety in the state.
