The Assam government’s initiative, CM’s FLIGHT (Foreign Language Initiative for Global Human Talent) scheme, is being launched tomorrow by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The scheme aims to provide employment opportunities in Japan to Assamese youth by training them in the Japanese language. The Chief Minister expressed his ambition to link this scheme with youth skill development and global employment opportunities.
MoUs with Japanese Companies
Three Japanese companies signed agreements with the Assam government during Advantage Assam 2.0. These companies are ASEAN One Company Ltd, Jeceex Ventures Ltd, and Meiko Career Partner Ltd. A few days ago, a delegation from ASEAN One Company Ltd, led by MOSHIAKI Nishikawa, met with the Chief Minister and finalized the Japanese language training in Assam. The Chief Minister stated that it took five months from concept to implementation of the MoU.

Establishment of the Assam-ASEAN One Skill and Language Institute
The Chief Minister informed that the Assam-ASEAN One Skill and Language Institute has been established to equip the youth of Assam with Japanese language skills. Youth trained at this institute will be able to obtain short-term employment opportunities in Japan. The meeting with Nishikawa also discussed the plan to establish a Japanese language center in Assam, which will be designed to send trained professionals to Japan.
Scheme Benefits and Training Outline
Under this scheme, approximately 3,000 youth from the state will receive Japanese language training. The total cost of the Japanese language course per student is approximately ₹3-4 lakh. The state cabinet has decided to provide a scholarship of ₹1.50 lakh per student. The remaining expenses will be borne by the students themselves. Initially, the training will focus on professionals in driving, IT, and nursing.
Employment and Salary Prospects
Upon completion of the training, each candidate is expected to receive a salary of approximately ₹2 lakh to ₹2.50 lakh per month in Japan. Students who are not interested in going to Japan can also work in Japanese companies located in India. This scheme will not only provide global employment opportunities for youth but will also enhance Assam’s skills development and international recognition.
