Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that only one of the eight people who were with Zubin Garg in Singapore during his final moments has responded to the CID’s summons. The remaining seven have not yet provided any information about their presence. Sarma said that it is necessary to comply with the summons of the SIT investigating the case and that the government will remain in constant contact with them.
Rupkamal Kalita Responds to Summons
Sarma stated that Rupkamal Kalita, who was present on the yacht at the time of the incident, has responded to the investigation team’s summons. The Chief Minister said that Kalita will arrive in Guwahati on Tuesday. Kalita’s cooperation could reveal important information in the investigation. He also said that once one person cooperates, others will be encouraged to do so.

Cooperation of the other seven people is necessary
Sarma told the media that the remaining seven people have not yet provided any information regarding coming to Assam to assist in the investigation. He said, “We will maintain constant pressure on them. The sooner they come, the sooner we can conclude the investigation. They will be encouraged to cooperate.” The Chief Minister also clarified that the investigation can only be completed quickly if everyone cooperates.
The Importance of Investigation in Singapore and MLAT
Sarma said that the Assam Police does not need to go to Singapore to investigate. The Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) between India and Singapore is in place. Under this, “all evidence collected by the Singapore Police will be shared with us.” He added that it is not possible to conduct an investigation by another country’s police in a foreign country. An official request has been sent to Singapore, and further action will be taken in India based on the findings of the investigation there.
