The wait for Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited film “Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1″ is finally coming to an end. The film is releasing worldwide on October 2, 2025, on the occasion of Dussehra. Audiences are already buzzing with excitement about the film. Premiere shows have already been held ahead of its release, and initial reviews are pouring in. According to initial reports, the film is performing exceptionally well, with viewers saying it’s even more grand and impressive than the first film.
First Review: “Kantara Chapter 1” Lives Up to Expectations
Even before the film’s release, a review on a Telugu website has gone viral, calling it a “must-watch.” According to a report by Telugu FilmiFocus, audiences said that “Kantara Chapter 1” lived up to all expectations and answered the questions raised by the first part. The report stated that the film’s story, presentation, background music, cinematography, and technical aspects are excellent. Many viewers even said that this film is even more spectacular and grand than the first part.

Mixed Reactions: Some Criticism Also Emerged
However, not everyone is praising the film. Film critic Umair Sandhu, commenting on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), wrote, “First Review: Kaantara Chapter 1! All that glitters is not always gold. The film is overrated and strange.” Thus, reactions from audiences and critics appear mixed. However, the true picture and accurate ratings will only emerge after the film’s official release on October 2.
Record-breaking Advance Booking
The film’s popularity can be gauged from its advance booking. According to a Money Control report, pre-booking, which began on Sunday, saw over 1.7 lakh tickets sold in just one day, earning the film an advance gross of approximately ₹5.7 crore. This figure is several times higher than the opening day collection of 2022’s “Kantara,” which was ₹2 crore. Furthermore, “Kantara Chapter 1” has surpassed big-budget films like Hrithik Roshan-Jr. NTR’s “War 2” and Pawan Kalyan’s “They Call Him OG” with its advance bookings alone. It will be interesting to see how the film performs at the box office upon its Dussehra release.
