Bodoland elections: Following a landslide victory in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has finalized the date for its swearing-in and oath-taking ceremony. This historic ceremony will be held on October 5, 2025, at the Kokrajhar Green Field, located near the Secretariat. The BPF has secured a strong foothold in this election, winning 28 out of 40 seats.
Chief Minister and Governor to be Special Guests
The BPF has invited Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as a special guest, while Governor Laxman Acharya will be the chief guest. Party President Hagrama Mohilary met the Chief Minister in Dispur on Sunday and presented the formal invitation. He also extended a welcome message to other political parties, including the ruling UPPL and the BJP, and stated that the BPF is ready to work with any front that offers support.

Reasons behind the date selection
According to party sources, the swearing-in date was decided after consultations with the Chief Minister and the Governor. The Durga Puja holiday and the mourning period declared following the sudden demise of Assamese cultural icon Zubeen Garg earlier this month were taken into account. The party stated that the October 5th date would allow for greater participation by officials and supporters, while maintaining the solemnity and dignity of the event.
Significance and Expectations of the Ceremony
The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by dignitaries, party leaders, and supporters from across the state. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also responded on social media, saying, “Following the recently concluded Bodoland Territorial Council elections, BPF President Shri Hagrama Mohilary and his party’s winning candidates met me and invited me to their swearing-in ceremony to be held in Kokrajhar on October 5th.”
This event will not only mark the beginning of a new term for the BPF, but will also open a new chapter of cooperation and engagement in Assamese politics.
