The tragic death of renowned singer Zubin Garg while scuba diving in Singapore has shocked the entire nation. Meanwhile, the Assam government has taken significant action in this matter. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that lookout notices have been issued against Northeast Festival organizer Shyam Kanu Mahanta and Zubin Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma. Under these notices, they cannot leave India through any airport, port, or border crossing.
Summoned to Guwahati for Testimony
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the Durga Puja festival is about to begin, so immediate summoning was not possible, but both will have to come to Guwahati on October 6th to record their statements. If they do not wish to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), they will have to approach the court. He also stated that a letter has been written to the Guwahati High Court to ensure transparency in the case regarding Zubin Garg’s death, so that the police investigation is conducted in a fair and transparent manner.

Shyam Kanu Mahant’s accounts and credit cards suspended
CM Sarma stated that Shyam Kanu Mahant’s bank accounts and credit card transactions have been frozen to prevent him from staying out of the country for long periods. The process of obtaining Zubin Garg’s post-mortem report from Singapore is underway. The second post-mortem conducted at the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital is also ready. This step has been taken to ensure speed and transparency of the investigation.
Politicizing the death will not be tolerated
The Chief Minister stressed that he will not allow the politicization of Zubin Garg’s death. He said that if it appears that the Assam Police is unable to conduct a proper investigation, the case will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He also appealed to the public not to engage in protests or political activities in Zubin’s name. Zubin Garg died on September 19 while diving in Singapore, where he had gone to participate in the Northeast India Festival.
