Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday claimed that the report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged Pakistani connection of state Congress president Gaurav Gogoi and his family is very explosive. He said that this report makes it clear that a cartel was working to defame and weaken India’s development process. The Chief Minister said that the report also revealed that a Pakistani citizen and the British wife of the Congress MP have a role in this cartel.
Documents threatening sovereignty recovered
CM Sarma claimed that the SIT team has recovered many important documents which pose a threat to the sovereignty of the country. He said that this report is of 96 pages and there is no fictional story in it, but serious facts are recorded. The Chief Minister made it clear that the government does not want to do any drama or TRP politics regarding this report, but will take it seriously and move forward as per the prescribed procedure. He said that after discussing the report in the cabinet meeting, it will also be brought before the public and further action will be decided.
Focus on BTC elections and PM’s visit for now
CM Sarma said that the priority of the government at this time is to ensure the successful completion of the Prime Minister’s two-day visit to Assam and the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections. He said, “Once the BTC elections are over, the cabinet will discuss the SIT report and decide the future strategy.” Sarma also added that the facts revealed in the report are very important for both the security and development of the country.
Targeting Congress and political dispute
On Gaurav Gogoi’s statement that the Chief Minister has made a mockery of the dignity of his post, Sarma said that the media itself is making Gogoi a hero. He also mentioned the ‘body double’ controversy of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and said that he has already given detailed information about this in a press conference. Reacting to the alleged indecent remarks made against the Prime Minister and his late mother from a Congress platform in Bihar, Sarma said that the entire country including Bihar will give a befitting reply to the Congress. He reiterated that the government will soon take a serious decision regarding the SIT report and the truth will be placed before the public.
