PM Modi’s Assam visit: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Assam, which was earlier scheduled for September 8, has now been rescheduled for September 13-14. During this, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several important projects in the state. Chief Minister Sarma said that the state government has started preparations to welcome the Prime Minister and this visit will prove to be historic for the development of Assam.
Bio-refinery worth Rs 4,200 crore inaugurated in Numaligarh
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate a bio-refinery built at a cost of Rs 4,200 crore in Numaligarh during his visit. This refinery will work to produce 2G ethanol from bamboo, which will promote green energy and will also directly benefit the farmers. Chief Minister Sarma said that the Prime Minister will also participate in a special meeting in Numaligarh, where topics related to energy and environment will be discussed. This project will give a new direction to the economy of not only Assam but the entire Northeast region.
Foundation stone of several major infrastructure projects
After the Numaligarh program, Prime Minister Modi will go to Mangaldoi (District Darrang). Here he will lay the foundation stone of several important infrastructure projects of the state. These include Guwahati Ring Road, New Bridge on Brahmaputra River (connecting Kurua and Narengi), and construction of Darrang Medical College. These projects will ease traffic in Assam, improve health services and increase employment opportunities. Chief Minister Sarma said that this visit will give new impetus to the development work of Assam.
Launch of Bhupen Hazarika’s Centenary Celebrations
Prime Minister Modi will return to Guwahati in the last leg of his tour and will inaugurate the centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika there. This grand year-long event will be organized by the Government of Assam. Dr. Bhupen Hazarika is remembered not only in Assam but in the entire country and the world for his art, music and culture. The presence of the Prime Minister will make this ceremony more historic and glorious.
