The district administration along with political and social organisations in Tamulpur district has stepped up preparations ahead of the upcoming BTC election. On Monday, District Commissioner and District Election Officer Pankaj Chakraborty announced the setting up of four additional polling stations in the district.
Which areas are included
Apart from 29-Suklai Serphang (ST) constituency, these four additional polling stations have been set up in 26-Darrangajuli (ST), 27-Nagriguli (Non-ST), 28-Goibari (ST), and 30-Goreshwar (ST) constituencies. With these centres, the total number of polling stations in Tamulpur district has increased from 391 to 395.
Need for additional polling station
According to the election rules, if the number of voters in a polling station exceeds 1,250, it is mandatory to set up an additional polling station there. Although the number of voters remained stable, four additional polling stations have been set up under this provision.
Voter details
There are a total of 3,45,770 voters in the five assembly constituencies of Tamulpur district. These include 1,72,874 female voters, 1,72,895 male voters and one transgender voter. These figures are important for election preparation and transparency of the voting process.
Impact on future election process
The establishment of these additional polling stations will increase voter convenience and reduce crowds at polling stations. This step will play an important role in making the election process smooth and fair.
