Sharp criticism on BJP
Former KADC working president Ashok Teron launched a scathing attack on the BJP while speaking to the media. He alleged that the BJP came to power through illegal means. He also stressed on the failure of the present state government and the council. Teron said that instead of protecting Assam’s borders from encroachment from neighbouring states, the government has sold the land to multinational companies.
Demand for rights of tribes
Ashok Teron warned that if such practices continue, future generations, especially the Karbi and other tribal communities, will become landless. He demanded that the tribal communities living in the hill districts since 1947 be given documents (patta) of their land so that their rights over the land are protected.
