Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam on August 29, marking the beginning of the BJP’s political narrative preparation for the upcoming Assam assembly elections scheduled for next year. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this after a preparatory meeting at the BJP state headquarters. Shah’s visit is expected to energize the party cadre and lay the groundwork for the electoral battle in Assam, as the BJP aims to retain power for the third consecutive term.
PM Narendra Modi to Visit Assam Soon After Amit Shah’s Arrival
Chief Minister Sarma also revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam within ten days of Amit Shah’s trip. Modi’s visit is planned to commence from Golaghat district on September 8. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the country’s first bio-ethanol refinery in Numaligarh, set up at a cost of over Rs 4,000 crore, signaling a significant boost to the region’s industrial growth. Modi will then proceed to Mangaldai to lay foundation stones for key infrastructure projects, including the Guwahati Ring Road, a Brahmaputra bridge, and a medical college and hospital.

Amit Shah’s Multiple Engagements to Bolster BJP’s Grassroots Connect
Amit Shah’s visit will be packed with important events, starting with the inauguration of the newly constructed Raj Bhavan in Guwahati. He will also address a conference of recently elected panchayat representatives of the NDA, playing a crucial role in shaping the BJP’s political discourse ahead of elections. Later, Shah will attend the birth centenary celebrations of Assam’s first non-Congress Chief Minister Golap Borbora. Sarma emphasized the significance of Shah’s speech to local leaders, calling it a key moment in the party’s election campaign.
BJP’s Coordinated Efforts for Successful High-Profile Visits
The Assam BJP unit is working extensively to ensure the success of both Shah and Modi’s visits. The party leadership, including MPs, MLAs, and district officials, are mobilizing efforts to make these events impactful. Sarma stated that except for the panchayat representatives’ meeting, all programs involving the Prime Minister and Home Minister are official and well-planned. The party sees these visits as crucial in energizing its base and showcasing development initiatives ahead of the polls.
Party Leadership Calls for Active Participation in Election Preparations
State BJP president Dilip Saikia took to Twitter to urge party workers to contribute actively to the success of the upcoming yatras (campaign events). He highlighted that a preparatory meeting was held at the state headquarters to review arrangements for the Panchayat Pratinidhi Sammelan on August 29 and the Prime Minister’s visit. Saikia stressed the importance of full cooperation from all party members, calling on MPs, MLAs, and organizing committees to ensure a grand and successful series of events.
