Assam Navodaya Admission 2026: Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the official notification of Navodaya Entrance Test 2026-27 (JNVST) for admission to class 6. This exam is conducted with the aim of providing better educational opportunities to economically weaker but meritorious students. These schools are run by the Government of India and provide free education, hostel, food and other facilities to the students.
Exam Date and Time
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) will be conducted on 13 December 2025 (Saturday) from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The total duration of this exam will be 2 hours consisting of 80 questions and maximum 100 marks are set.
Exam Pattern and Division of Questions
The JNVST exam is divided into three parts –
- Mental Ability Test – 40 questions, 50 marks, 60 minutes
- Mathematics (Arithmetic) Test – 20 questions, 25 marks, 30 minutes
- Language Test – 20 questions, 25 marks, 30 minutes
All the questions in the exam will be objective type (MCQ).
Who can apply? Know the eligibility criteria
- Age limit: The candidate must be born between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016.
- Current Study: The candidate must be studying in class 5 in a recognized school in the same district during the academic session 2025-26.
- Previous Admission: Those who have not taken admission in class 5 before 31st July 2024 are not eligible.
- Reattempt: No student can attempt the selection test again.
Assam Specific Information
There are a total of 28 Navodaya Vidyalayas in the state of Assam and the language of the exam will be English, Hindi, Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, Garo, Manipuri (Bengali script), Manipuri (Meitei Mayek). Only students from the district where the Navodaya Vidyalaya is located can apply.
How to apply online?
Interested students can apply online by visiting the official website between 3 June 2025 to 13 August 2025. The admit cards for the exam will be released in December 2025 and the result will be declared in March 2026. The application process is simple and students have to fill the form by logging in through a UID and password.
