ALTT Banned: The Government of India has banned 25 OTT apps and websites, taking a tough stand on pornographic content. These include prominent names like ALTT, Ullu, Desiflix, Boomex, Big Shots. This decision was taken because obscene and pornographic content was being broadcast on these platforms which is a violation of IT rules and Indian laws.
Ekta Kapoor’s response after ALTT’s ban
After the ban of ALTT, discussions started on social media about Ekta Kapoor. In response, Ekta Kapoor shared a post on Instagram and clarified that she or her mother Shobha Kapoor have no connection with ALTT. She said that she had severed all ties with ALTT in June 2021 itself.
Balaji Telefilms also clarified
Balaji Telefilms Limited has also issued an official statement. It was written that Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor have no direct or indirect connection with ALT Balaji. If anyone says anything contrary to this truth, then it is completely false and misleading. Balaji Company also said that it follows all the legal rules.
Crackdown on Ullu app and other platforms too
Apart from ALTT, Ullu app was also under government surveillance. In May 2024, Ullu removed the series named ‘House Arrest’ after the intervention of the ministry. The government says that some platforms started uploading pornographic content on the new domain after being banned in March 2024. In such a situation, all of them were completely banned again.
Now a big message for content creators
It is clear from this action that now the government has become very strict against online pornography. OTT platforms will have to take care of what kind of content they are showing. The clarification given by Ekta Kapoor also shows that celebrities are also having to keep themselves away from such controversies.
