Assam NEET UG Counselling 2025: Race for MBBS Begins! Assam NEET UG Counselling Starts July 2

Assam NEET UG Counselling 2025: The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, has officially announced the counselling schedule for MBBS and BDS admissions for the academic year 2025. The process will be conducted online and will be based on the NEET UG 2025 scores. Candidates who wish to secure a seat in medical or dental colleges in Assam must follow the schedule strictly to avoid missing any important deadline.

85% Seats Reserved for Assam Natives

As per the DME guidelines, 85% of the total MBBS and BDS seats are reserved for students who are natives of Assam. The remaining 15% of the seats fall under the All India Quota (AIQ) and will be allotted to students from other states through central counselling. This reservation policy is in line with the state’s efforts to promote local representation in medical education and provide better healthcare access to Assamese communities.

First Round Counselling Schedule Released

The online registration for the first round of counselling will begin on July 24 and continue until July 29, 2025. Candidates whose names appear in the provisional merit list are eligible to take part in this process. Choice filling will be open from July 30 to August 2, followed by the final locking of choices on August 2. The seat allotment process will take place between August 3 and 5, and the results will be declared on August 6. This entire counselling process will be conducted through the official portal: dme.assam.gov.in.

Only Online Counselling This Year

In a significant move, the DME has clarified that no offline counselling will be conducted this year. All activities, including registration, document verification, choice filling, and allotment, will be done online. This ensures transparency, convenience, and accessibility for all eligible students, especially those living in remote areas of Assam. It also reflects the growing adoption of digital processes in government education systems post-pandemic.

Nearly 20,000 Students Eligible

The DME has also released the revised provisional merit list, based on NEET UG 2025 scores. A total of 19,823 candidates have been included in this list. The merit list contains important details such as NEET roll numbers, ranks, and categories of the applicants. Only candidates listed in this provisional merit list are eligible to participate in the Assam NEET UG counselling process. Students are advised to regularly check the official website for updates and instructions.
