Ahead of the assembly elections in Assam next year, the Congress party is seriously working on the economic problems of the people of the state. Congress national spokesperson Charan Singh Sapra has informed that the party is conducting a detailed study to understand how much economic difficulties people have faced under the rule of the BJP government. Possible solutions will also be suggested in this report and a future income plan is also being prepared for the government. Sapra said that this study will be completed in two months and will be presented to the public.
Allegation of ‘not double engine but trouble engine government’
BJP promotes its government as ‘double engine’ but Congress spokesperson Sapra has termed it a ‘trouble engine’. He alleged that the BJP government only works to divide the people and instead of development in Assam, only polarization is being focused on. He said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is doing politics only by resorting to slogans and lies. Sapra also said that BJP has actually become a party of lies, Jumla and Jadooji whose aim is to mislead the public.

Debt-ridden Assam and Congress’ warning
Expressing concern over the state’s economic condition, Sapra said that the way Assam government is spending money by taking loans on beneficiary schemes can become a big crisis for the future. He said that this debt will become a burden for the coming governments and it will be very difficult to repay it. The annual borrowing of Assam government has increased by about 78 percent in the last three years while the growth rate of the state’s GDP and per capita income has slowed down. The Congress report will give detailed information on all these aspects and a solution-based action plan will be submitted to the public.
Congress’ unity and corruption are the main issues
Sapra said that Rahul Gandhi has held a meeting with senior leaders of Assam and has given the message to everyone to unite and take the party’s ideology forward. Congress is now preparing to unite and fight the BJP. He said that in the last 10 years, the BJP government in Assam has disappointed the people and now the time has come to bring a strong alternative before the people. In the coming 8 to 10 months, Congress will bring forward a big issue which will be directly related to the sentiments of the common people. He also rejected the allegation of BJP that Congress had sold tickets in the Panchayat elections and called it an attempt to tarnish the image of the opposition on social media.
