The state-of-the-art international cricket stadium being built in Amingaon, Guwahati is getting ready at a fast pace. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited the construction site and reviewed the progress. He said that this stadium will be fully ready by December 2025 and it will be officially inaugurated in February 2026. After the inauguration, this stadium will be fully ready to host cricket matches of all formats like international level Test matches, ODIs and T20. On this occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the engineers and officials engaged in the construction work and expressed satisfaction about the quality of work.
The government is also alert about the traffic system
Chief Minister Sarma said that keeping in mind the possible traffic problem during big events in the stadium, the government is making special arrangements. The roads around the stadium are being expanded and modern infrastructure is being prepared for parking and transportation. He said that the objective of the government is that the spectators should not face any inconvenience and they should get a world-class experience. Along with this, he indicated that in the coming time, this area will be connected to the smart traffic management system so that there is no interruption in traffic during the events.
Not only cricket, new center of entertainment too
Amingaon Stadium is being prepared not only for cricket but also for other big cultural and entertainment events. The Chief Minister said that large-scale music concerts and cultural programs can also be organized in this stadium, which will give a new impetus to the tourism and entertainment industry of Assam. He said that this stadium will give a platform to the youth of Assam to move forward in both sports and arts and this is a big step towards making Guwahati the major sports and cultural capital of the country.
Reconstruction of Nehru Stadium and new bridge also ready
To further strengthen the sports facilities, Chief Minister Sarma also announced that the reconstruction work of the historic Nehru Stadium in Guwahati will start from next month. This will further strengthen the sports system of the city. Apart from this, he also informed that the new bridge connecting North Guwahati will be ready in December 2025. With the opening of this bridge, there will be a major improvement in the traffic system in Guwahati and its surrounding areas. He said that Assam is leaving no stone unturned in preparing for the upcoming National Games and the aim of the state government is to be counted among the best sports states in the country.
