Delhi Police’s AATS (Interstate Crime Prevention Team) has arrested two interstate criminals in a sensational robbery case. One of the accused, Harmeet, had conspired to commit the robbery for his friend’s sister’s wedding. Police have recovered Rs 54,500, clothes and mobile phones used in the crime from the accused.

Dwarka district DCP Ankit Singh (IPS) told in a press conference that the case was registered on April 29. Three criminals carried out a robbery at gunpoint at Delivery Private Limited office in Sector 19, Dwarka. They fled with Rs 2 lakh and DVR. An FIR was registered in this case at Sector 23 police station.

On the instructions of DCP Ankit Singh, the AATS team started the investigation and the team led by Inspector Kamlesh Kumar inspected the spot. The team examined more than 500 CCTV footage. With the help of technical surveillance and information, Harmeet and Yogesh were arrested from Jharoda Kalan on April 3. During interrogation, they confessed to the crime and the police recovered Rs 54,500.

Harmeet’s conspiracy and criminal history of the accused

Harmeet was earlier a delivery boy, but after leaving the job, he planned a robbery for his friend Gurdas’s sister’s wedding. Gurdas, who was recently released from jail in a murder case, joined the plan with weapons. On April 28, the accused had looted a red Vikrant Bajaj bike in Bahadurgarh, for which an FIR was lodged at Sector 6 police station. After the robbery, they abandoned the bike and reached Rohtak, where they divided the money among themselves. Gurdas took another Rs 40,000 for his sister’s wedding.

Criminal history of the accused and absconding accused

Harmeet and Yogesh have a long criminal record. They were involved in robbery cases in Haryana in 2015-16 and were released from jail in 2022. The third accused Gurdas has recently come out of jail in a murder case and is currently absconding. The police have so far recovered Rs 54,500, clothes and mobile phones used in the crime. DCP Ankit Singh said that the search for Gurdas is on and efforts are also being made to recover the rest.
