Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today accused Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi of taking 90 Indian youths to the Pakistan Embassy. He said that this trip was part of a larger radicalization effort. The Chief Minister also alleged that some of these youths were not told that they were being taken to the Pakistan Embassy. Sarma said that Gaurav Gogoi had earlier traveled to Pakistan and stayed there for 15 days, after which he took these youths to the Pakistan Embassy and incited them towards radical ideology.
Gogoi’s foreign trip questioned
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma further intensified his allegations and also said that Gaurav Gogoi’s wife also traveled to Pakistan with him. She stayed in Pakistan for 7 days and then returned, but Gaurav Gogoi remained there and also met a Pakistan Army officer. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also questioned Gaurav Gogoi’s Nepal visit. He said that staying in Nepal for 7 days is unusual for a normal Indian tourist. Sarma asked, “What is there in Nepal that you had to stay there for 7 days?”
CM questioned Congress leadership
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also questioned the Congress party on this matter. He said, “Rahul Gandhi should clarify that if an Indian, who is the son of a Chief Minister, goes to Pakistan without informing his party, is it not a crime?” He further said that he will try to meet Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge on this issue and ask him clearly what stand the Congress party takes in this matter. Sarma said that he will ask Kharge whether the Congress considers it a crime or not.
